SHARRYN E. ROSS - Partner

Sharryn E. Ross is the Senior Partner in the Firm. She practices exclusively in the field of immigration and nationality law, with an emphasis on business immigration. Ms. Ross has almost 30 years of experience in immigration law. She was an elected member of the Board of Governors of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) for 12 years. She is currently a member of AILA's Department of Labor Liaison Committee, which meets with the Department of Labor (DOL) several times a year to discuss issues about the new PERM program and the Backlog Elimination Centers. She has previously served as Chair of the local Department of Labor Liaison Committee; Chair of the ISD Liaison between AILA and the Immigration Services Division (ISD) of USCIS, the division which oversees all four USCIS Service Centers; National Chair of the Vermont Service Center Liaison Committee; and Chair of the Consular Affairs Liaison Committee of the U.S. State Department. In addition, she is the past Chair of the New England Chapter of AILA. She has lectured frequently on a wide range of issues in the immigration field, both nationally and in the New England area and in the past 2 years has lectured extensively on the process of obtaining permanent residence through PERM. She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and has been awarded the AV rating, the highest rating available by Martindale-Hubbell. In addition, she was named by Boston Magazine as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer in the field of immigration law in 2005 and 2006. She is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.

HOWARD A. SILVERMAN - Partner

Howard A. Silverman is a Partner in the Firm and has over 20 years of experience in the field of immigration and nationality law. Mr. Silverman is the former Chair of the New England chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is a former chair of the Boston chapter of the National Immigration Project. In addition, he is the Co-Chair of the AILA New England Chapter Liaison Committee with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Liaison to the Office of Chief Counsel in Boston. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Immigration Law Foundation (AILF). Mr. Silverman has been a speaker at immigration law programs and workshops in the Boston area, and has been presented with the PAIR Project Mentor of the Year Award three times for his volunteer work supervising pro bono attorneys representing political asylum applicants. He has extensive experience working with physicians to obtain waivers of the two-year foreign residency requirement. He was co-author with Mr. Levy of a chapter on H-1B Visas and Physicians in Immigration Options for Physicians, Second Edition, published by AILA in 2004. Mr. Silverman has also been granted the AV rating, the highest rating available by Martindale-Hubbell, and was named by Boston Magazine as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer in the field of immigration law in 2006. He is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.

JASON A. LEVY - Partner

Jason A. Levy is a Partner in the Firm. Mr. Levy's practice is concentrated in the areas of business immigration, family immigration and nationality law. He has been practicing immigration law for 10 years, and has extensive experience in successfully representing physicians and scientists at major medical facilities in nonimmigrant visa petitions, including O-1 petitions, and in permanent residence applications via PERM and EB-1 petitions. Mr. Levy has been a speaker at immigration law programs and conferences in the Boston area, including Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Immigration Basics conferences and the annual conference of the National Association of Foreign Student Advisors (NAFSA). He also has contributed to MCLE publications and has served as editor of an AILA publication relating to immigration law. Previously, he served as Chair of the Congressional Liaison Committee for the New England chapter of AILA. Mr. Levy was co-author with Mr. Silverman of a chapter on H-1B Visas and Physicians in Immigration Options for Physicians, Second Edition, published by AILA in 2004. He also was previously a Legal Research & Writing instructor at Boston University School of Law. Mr. Levy was named by Boston Magazine as a Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star in the field of immigration law in 2005 and 2006. He is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and is an active member of AILA.

HEIDI L. SNYDER - Associate

Heidi L. Snyder is a Senior Associate with the Firm. Ms. Snyder's practice is concentrated on business immigration. She has nine years of business immigration experience, including experience securing nonimmigrant and immigrant visas for professional workers, foreign healthcare workers, researchers and professors. In addition to consulting with clients regarding immigrant visa and non-immigrant visa sponsorship issues, she advises employers on issues pertaining to I-9 compliance and unauthorized employment, employer sanctions and employer sponsorship obligations. Ms. Snyder has been an invited speaker for the New England chapter of AILA on the topic of nonimmigrant visa consular processing. She has given presentations to the Massachusetts Healthcare Human Resources Association on the topic of post-9/11 changes affecting visa processing and visa issuance and the Northeast Human Resources Association on the topic of hiring foreign-national employees. Ms. Snyder was named by Boston Magazine as a Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star in the field of immigration law in 2005 and 2006. She is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and New York and is an active member of AILA.

KATHLEEN M. ANGUSTIA - Associate

Kathleen "Kate" M. Angustia has been an Associate with the Firm since 2003. Ms. Angustia's practice is concentrated on business immigration. Prior to joining the Firm as an associate, Ms. Angustia worked at Ross, Silverman & Levy as a legal assistant for two years, and completed two immigration internships during law school. Throughout her career in immigration law, Ms. Angustia has gained experience in obtaining B-1 in lieu of H-1B, H-1B, K-1, K-3, L-1, and O visas and advocating on behalf of individuals seeking permanent residence and citizenship. Ms. Angustia is knowledgeable regarding nonimmigrant and immigrant visa options for foreign-born physicians, and the unique legal issues confronting physicians. She has successfully handled numerous PERM cases for physicians working at complex, decentralized academic medical centers. Ms. Angustia is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and is an active member of AILA.

RHONDA A. TIETJEN - Associate

Rhonda A. Tietjen is an Associate with the Firm. Ms. Tietjen has more than six years of immigration experience. Her practice is concentrated in business immigration, and includes extensive nonimmigrant and immigrant work with full-time researchers and scientists, including O-1 and EB-1 petitions. Ms. Tietjen has practiced immigration law at large corporate law firms in Boston and Washington, DC, where she has counseled numerous individual and corporate clients regarding all aspects of employment-based immigration issues. Immediately prior to joining the Firm, she spent more than three years as part of the in-house legal department at a biopharmaceutical company located in Cambridge, MA, where she was responsible for a full-service immigration practice, as well as working with issues of employment law, deemed export compliance, I-9 compliance, and various types of contract negotiation. Ms. Tietjen is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and New York and is an active member of AILA.
